About the event

What is Modern Pop Made Of?

Charli XCX and Sabrina Carpenter, Tommy Cash and The Weeknd, Morgenshtern and Billie Eilish - whether we want to or not, we hear them every day. But how did pop music evolve into what it is today? Where did it come from? How do past sounds and present events shape it?

Join us for a lecture by Nikolai Ovchinnikov as we explore these questions.

Nikolai is a journalist and editor at Volna, as well as a music critic for Delfi, Novaya Gazeta Europe, and other independent Russian media outlets. He writes about contemporary pop music - what it's made of and how it reflects today's world.

At Laska V21, he will break it all down with you.
