CHINABOT Showcase: NEO GEODESIA / PISITAKUN / JAEHO HWANG

Chinabot is a platform and collective created to change the dialogue surrounding Asian music. Started in 2017, the multi-disciplinary label and network of Asian artists decided to cooperate on a new way to collect and promote exciting Asian music. 

Releasing undiscovered artists from Bahrain to Thailand, Chinabot is positioned at the junction point between the influence of Asian music on contemporary/traditional sounds, music outside the mainstream and the development of experimentation. Whether it’s Jazz folk music, experimental ambient or mutant techno, we celebrate exciting new music that falls between the gaps, a place for adventurous listening.

Led by Saphy Vong, fuses experimental electronic processes with traditional Khmer music, drawing from his upbringing in France and exposure to Khmer pop. Previously known as Lafidki, his music has gained recognition on Orange Milk Records and platforms like Resident Advisor and NPR. Through his platform Chinabot, he collaborates with diverse artists, and his upcoming album is inspired by Pradal Serey and Bokator music while commenting on Cambodia's power dynamics.

- PISITAKUN

Pisitakun Kuantalaeng (b.1986) graduated with a BFA in Sculpture from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Bangkok, Thailand. Since 2014, he has blended traditional Thai instrumentation with pounding rhythms, creating protest songs reflecting frustration with political life and censorship. His performances include CTM Festival (Berlin) and Cafe OTO (London). Notable releases on Chinabot include SOSLEEP (2018) and Absolute C.O.U.P. (2020). He's part of the SHAPE Platform roster for 2022, collaborating with artists like Meuko Meuko and Evita Manji.

 - JAEHO HWANG

A Seoul-based DJ, producer, and visual artist, blends traditional Korean instrumentation with contemporary club music, drawing inspiration from the Buddhist concept of impermanent selfhood. His debut EP, "Non-Self/비자아," fuses dark, industrial club beats with Korean sound and samples, reflecting his exploration of identity in the digital age through the lens of anatta, or non-self. Featured in Resident Advisor, Boiler Room, and other renowned platforms, Hwang is a member of Chinabot and co-founder of Seoul's "Fragmented Service" collective, showcasing Seoul's sub-club scene and hosting international artists like ZULI and Dis Fig. Actively involved in Seoul's underground club scene, Hwang frequents venues like Cakeshop and Seoul Community Radio.
